Job Overview:
The Associate Civil/Structural Designer is an entry-level position, and their work is completed with close supervision and support. They work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adhere to quality guidelines. The Associate Civil/Structural Designer should have basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process and appropriate licenses/training certifications.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of detail drawings and deliverables of high technical quality and consistent presentation ensuring clarity and ease of construction
Gain experience in the following work areas:
Design
2D drafting
3D drafting and/or model creation
Develop basic technical skills to complete assigned work
Become fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address them
Prepare Civil and Structural layouts from data generated by others, in close liaison with Civil and Structural Engineers and counterparts from other disciplines
Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with McDermott requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures with a particular focus on Health and Safety Policies
Develop 3D Models
Provide drafting support as required
Essential Qualifications & Education:
High School graduate with a diploma in Civil or Structural disciplines or equivalent experience
Entry level to less than 3 years drafting and/or design
Knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) drafting systems and other drafting software
Basis of E3D and/or S3D
Familiarity with 3D design systems E3D or S3D would be an advantage
Proactive and willing to learn
Flexible for business traveling/assignments
