McDermott Associate Electrical Engineer in Chennai, India
Job Overview:
The Associate Electrical Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing Electrical procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team and will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Electrical and Engineering.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:
Specifications and Datasheets
Electrical Load List
One-line diagrams
Bills of Material
Cable sizing calculations
Conceptual studies and calculations
Prepare material requisitions, perform offer evaluation and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation
Support Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to) the following:
Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end-product throughout engineering, fabrication, or construction
Report to and coordinate with the electrical engineering project lead and electrical task lead, as applicable
Effectively communicate with electrical engineering and design
Assist in developing and reviewing vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following:
Help to create requisition packages for Substations, Transformers, and Electrical materials
Help to create subcontract packages for Heat Tracing, Cathodic Protection, and Electrical Installation
Review supplier documents for electrical and non-electrical packages
Attend Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and associated skids
Provide Site Support, including (but not limited to) the following:
Provide on-site technical support to Construction personnel
Coordinate with office personnel to resolve issues as needed
Witness Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment
Assist with pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up, as required by the project
Reports to:
Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Supervising Department Manager
Liaise With: Engineers, Design Supervisors, and Designers of their own discipline
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering.
• Zero-three (0-3) years experience in Oil and Gas.
• Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable.
• Learning design techniques and analysis methods.
• Preferably a Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or a member of a Professional Engineering Society.
