Job Overview:

Perform routine aspects of Planning, Scheduling and progress measurement independently applying procedures, best practices and analysis to any size and type of project. Applies a sound knowledge of Project Controls principles in general. Can handle Planning & Scheduling aspects of FEED projects and large EPC projects independently. Leads, guides and coaches less experienced Planning & Scheduling personnel. Can function as Project Controls Manager on small to medium projects. Actively participates in maintenance and development of Planning & Scheduling procedures and tools. Manages his team to contribute to a safe working environment.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and co-ordinate multi-discipline summary level schedules

  • To provide guidance to junior planning staff in preparation of detailed schedules

  • Attend regular progress meetings with project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction as appropriate to ensure the work is being carried out in line with the agreed schedules

  • Ensure the proper interfacing of schedules between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Fabrication, Installation, and Commissioning as appropriate

  • Establish planning IT requirements and direct their implementation

  • Ensure the timely collection of accurate updated information is incorporated into the schedules, analyze the effects of the updated information and highlight any adverse situations to the Project Manager or relevant functional Manager

  • Evolve and propose possible solutions to programming problems

  • Ensure the timely preparation of charts and diagrams as required for reports, indicating planned, actual and forecast

  • Prepare narratives for reports, analyze achievements and their likely effects on remaining scope of work

  • Incorporate changes to the scope of work into schedules, histograms and progress curves and analyze their effects

  • Establish effective working relationships with appropriate project staff to assist in the provision of timely and accurate update information

  • Be able to represent Project Management in client discussions with respect to all aspects of planning & scheduling, manpower forecasting, progress measurement and resource control

  • Be able to establish a planning, progress and performance system on any type of project (BE, E, P, EP, EPC, EPFC, PMC, Multi-office).

  • Be able to setup and/or direct the setup of effective physical progress measurement based on earned value principles

  • Be able to supervise and or work on multiple projects if required

  • Be able and prepared to act as Project Controls manager on a small project

  • Be able to perform a Monte Carlo / Schedule Risk analysis

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Advanced Technical Education (B.Sc./M.Sc. or equivalent)

  • 10-15 Years’ experience in a planning & Scheduling role in Oil & Gas or in related / comparable industries

  • Good Communication skills, team player

  • Proficient in Primavera P6

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint & workable to deal with resistance, Meet deadlines and is able to handle changing needs and requirements.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of cost controls procedures and best practices. Actively develop more FEED and EPC knowledge.
