Job Overview:

The Senior Piping engineer performs conceptual, FEED or detailed design analysis and develop them as per project. Scope of Work, design basis, project documentation, design codes and standards and McDermott procedures within the planned schedule and budget. Direct Engineering team as a Lead Engineer on small projects. Apply skills and knowledge of the business, takes a new perspective on existing solutions to address problems and non-standard situations and report them to Lead Piping Engineer at early stage. Prepare detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.

Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area. Clearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding. Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve products or services. Focused on health and safety policies and procedures.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Become fully familiar with the project Ccope of Work, Specification, Schedule and all inter-discipline requirements

  • Interface with other departments to obtain input for engineering and design

  • Interface with High Value Centres (HVECs) ensuring a clear understanding of their Scope of Work

  • Support 3D-Model review at 30%, 60% & 90% progress

  • Identifying changes to scope and promptly raising a notification.

  • Alert team of any deviation from the Scope of work or a need for change order.

  • Prepare design philosophies, specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO and material requisitions in accordance with the project scope of work and contract.

  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build understanding

  • Fully familiar with P&ID. Line List, Equipment List, Layout, Piping Specifications and design basis

  • Works independently, with minimal guidance when required.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 12+ years of Oil and gas experience with major contractor performing Conceptual, FEED and Detail design of offshore and Onshore facilities

  • Detailed knowledge of design techniques and application of standards, codes and guidelines applicable for offshore

  • Conversant with International codes and Standards like ANSI, ASME, API, BS, etc. and project experience with client standards like ADNOC and ARAMCO specs is preferred

  • Good knowledge on piping components and materials and on the applicable codes and standards - To be able to prepare/review piping engineering deliverables such as specifications, Piping Wall thickness Calculations, Line list, Valve Data Sheets, Stress Analysis reports and procurement deliverables such as Enquiry requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, Purchase requisition and Vendor Data Review for Piping items (Valves, Bulks, Specialty items, spring supports etc.)

  • Complete the work within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with codes and standards, Mcdermott and Project specific procedure to a high professional standard

  • Plan, organize and direct all aspects of the execution on the assigned project including scope, deliverables, schedule and manpower resources

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society.

  • Flexible for Business Travelling
