Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Project Controls Spec is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. They are considered a specialist in the field of Controls, and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the Project Controls function. They impact the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and work within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal Project Controls Spec role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Controls challenges.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation of all Project Controls tools and techniques needed for proper project execution, based on agreed standards and specific project characteristics

  • Roll-out on Fabrication Yard the Overall Project Controls Tools developed by Doha Project Controls Teams

  • Develop project-specific procedures and work methods based on McDermott standards and in line with Client requirements applicable to Fabrication Yard

  • Direct, supervise, and support the assigned Controls personnel, i.e., Planning Engineers, Cost Controllers

  • Further define the Project L3 Work Breakdown Structure at L4, and L5 and assure compliance

  • Ensure that Fabrication Progress is properly updated and shared with the Project Controls Group to feed Project Report

  • Ensure proper establishment of time and cost baselines

  • Provide monthly project planning forecast

  • Maintain Schedule Floats table and adjust the sequence of activities to maintain the completion date

  • Review costs booking and ensure proper allocation to Project Cost Code

  • Provide monthly project cost forecast

  • Ensure that Project risks are identified by Project Leads and mitigations are planned to reduce potential impacts of these risks

  • Steward the Risks Register

  • Provide to Project Contract Manager required information for timely notification of Change Notices

  • Maintain Change Register and collect supporting documents to submit Change Proposals

  • Assure all Controls activities are accomplished in unison and are complementary

  • Assure implementation and timely execution of the change control process

  • Internal/external project status report

  • Ensure that the control of technical documents and project correspondence are in place and keep updated, as indicated on project procedures, taking rectification steps as necessary

  • Must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline

  • 10 years of Experience in Projects based organization preferably within Oil and Gas Contracting business (Technical experience as a Planning Engineer is favorable, Prior experience in Field Engineering or Project Management is a plus)
