Job Overview:
The Associate Civil/Structural Designer utilizes 3D modeling and drafting software in the production of basic civil and structural design drawings for Onshore Oil & Gas, LNG, and Renewables Industry projects including structures, piperacks, modules, foundations, etc. The work includes conceptual studies, FEEDs, estimates, detail design, and construction support.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of designers and engineers in the production of basic civil/structural design
Utilize 3D modeling software tools to model civil and structural items
Prepare and check plan, section, and detail drawings
Prepare and check bulk material take offs
Update / scrub drawings based on checker or engineering feedback
Perform basic drafting/design computations
Provide administrative support to the civil / structural lead designer
Assist in the preparation of detail drawings and deliverables of high technical quality and consistent presentation ensuring clarity and ease of construction
Gain experience in the following work areas:
Design
2D drafting
3D drafting and/or model creation
Develop basic technical skills to complete assigned work
Become fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address them
Prepare Civil and Structural layouts from data generated by others, in close liaison with Civil and Structural Engineers and counterparts from other disciplines
Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with McDermott requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures with a particular focus on Health and Safety Policies
Develop 3D Models
Essential Qualifications and Education:
High School graduate with a diploma in Civil or Structural disciplines or equivalent experience
Entry level to less than 3 years drafting and/or design
Knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) drafting systems and other drafting software
Basis of E3D and/or S3D
Familiarity with 3D design systems E3D or S3D would be an advantage
Proactive and willing to learn
Flexible for business traveling/assignments
Ability to learn and maintain design within our company methods and procedures
Effective communication skill and professional ethics.
Basic understanding of CADD systems and drafting processes
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Associate degree
Work experience in civil design, modeling & drafting
Proficiency in basic office software
Drafting software knowledge (Autocad, Microstation, etc.)
Modeling software knowledge (S3D, E3D, etc.)
