Title: Category Manager Fleet and Rental Equipment

Location: USA-Texas-Houston

Job Overview:

Negotiate, Develops and Implements Project procurement strategies for Rental Equipment and Fleet Management Categories globally, which are in alignment with Project objectives i.e., budget, schedule, quality, cost, etc. while providing support and direction to Project procurement personnel in the development and execution of the approved project supplier list.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Develops area category strategy to achieve financial savings targets through detailed analysis of the category portfolio including consolidation of supplier base and spend across all geographical areas

  • Work closely with the Engineering and Construction team in the development and execution of the strategy to ensure that all technical considerations are addressed early on.

  • Aggressively pursue defined Category Management (CM) strategy to ensure competitive advantage for McDermott and to position McDermott as a market leader and preferred client of our key suppliers

  • Communicate and promote the strategy internally to management and key stakeholders

  • Ensure that the strategy is being adhered to through close collaboration with the global SCM community and to get alignment with construction team

  • Ensure that the commodity strategy evolves to adequately address the changing in market conditions

  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements (MSA) with strategic suppliers

  • Hold necessary intelligence and market knowledge to enable bid and project teams to make informed decisions

  • Closely monitor the supply market with regards to pricing & commodity trends, supplier capacity, supplier news, industry news and new product developments

  • Identify new supplier entrants and assess their capabilities to offer McDermott a competitive advantage over the existing supplier base

  • Prepare and distribute commodity and usage report when necessary

  • Analyze and map current and projected spend data and identify opportunities for global synergies

  • Provide benchmarking data to bid to project teams

  • Provide project support on dispute resolution with key suppliers when required

  • Develop close business relationships with supplier’s key senior figures, zipper strategy highly recommended

  • Maintain frequent communication with supplier’s and perform regular visits to key supplier’s facilities

  • Execute supplier management programs with key suppliers including the development of performance metrics (Spend/Saving Tracker, KPI's, SLA's, NCR’s, etc.), performance goals and improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor and report on supplier performance and compliance on a quarterly basis Proactively promote and reinforce McDermott’s QHSE standards and work closely with suppliers to ensure the highest standards are maintained

  • Leverage company spend/demand, develop supplier management strategies and tactics to ensure the organization is getting the best possible products & services, quality and price.

  • Rationalize the vendor portfolio to ensure critical supply products are proactively managed for example Just-In-Time delivery and dynamic supplier capacity management.

  • Identify through investigation and communication significant improvement opportunities, suggesting ways in which to release these opportunities and delivering against them.

  • Proactively challenge and support the vendors to identify and deliver improvements.

  • Set and monitor KPI's, and when necessary put in place corrective action plans ensuring performance improves

  • Conduct regular supplier reviews including supplier visits, quarterly business review meetings and the use of supplier quality audits.

  • Support QHSES and Fabrication teams on product changes and new product introductions that impact the manufacturing and supply chain processes.

  • Deliver vendor cost savings in line with set objects.

  • Liaise with shared procurement team on supplier management and continuous evolvement of KPI’s (performance, quality, delivery, cost and communications).

  • Prepare consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.

  • Travel when required both domestically and international to support the goals of the business or project.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience of rental and fleet management within the Energy and Oil and Gas Industry

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain Management or Engineering

  • Extensive functional, business, industry and leadership expertise.

  • Strong functional knowledge of ORACLE, including the ability to generate Excel spreadsheets with supporting analysis
