McDermott Manager Contract Management in Houston, Texas

The Manager Contract Management role requires an in-depth understanding of Contract Management concepts, theories, and principles and basic knowledge of other related disciplines. The Manager Contract Management must be able to apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the Contract Management discipline as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness. The Manager Contract Management impacts the level of service and the Contract Management team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan should guide decisions made by the Manager Contract Management.

  • Develop and implement contract management strategies to support contract and project objectives

  • Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from the initial negotiation stage to contract closeout

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure contract compliance and adherence to project schedules

  • Monitor and assess contract performance, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies

  • Manage contract negotiations, including price and terms, with suppliers, subcontractors, and other external partners

  • Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding contract-related matters

  • Conduct regular contract audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies

  • Coordinate with legal and procurement teams to ensure proper documentation and execution of contracts

  • Develop and maintain a contract database, including tracking key milestones, deadlines, and contract obligations

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and trends related to contract management

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in contract management within the EPCI industry

  • Working experience preferably in Offshore, Subsea, or Onshore Oil and Gas related projects

  • In-depth knowledge of contract types, such as lump-sum, unit price, and cost-reimbursable contracts, commonly used in the EPCI industry

  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, standards, and practices (e.g., API, ISO, ASME)

  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to review and analyze complex contractual documents

  • Proficient in using contract management software and tools, as well as MS Office Suite

  • Professional certifications related to contract management (such as CPCM or CCM) are highly desirable
