Job Overview:

McDermott is looking for Principal Designers to fulfill the current FEED/EPC project needs. The Principal Designer can serve as the Design Lead on an EPC or FEED effort ensuring the required deliverables are generated. Principal Designer will generate the Field Installation Spec., develop the benefits/setback of using an open system vs. closed. The Principal Designer will set up the Design databases to meet the contract requirements for the Project and satisfy turnover to customer.

Principal Designer will ensure Project compliant formats are set up for deliverables to Client, will ensure MOPEX office is set up and staffed appropriately for project needs, and will set up weekly meeting to resolve any issues and misunderstandings.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) Wiring, AutoCad 12, MS Office Suite

  • Strong working knowledge of multiple office project execution (MOPEX).

  • Up-to-date working knowledge of Control Systems (DCS, SIS, etc.) and Field Instrumentation.

  • May serve as the Lead Designer on a project.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum 15 years industry experience with an EPC Contractor.

  • 10 years as a Senior or Principal Designer.

  • Work history should be weighted towards LNG / gas processing / refinery /.

  • Have served as a Sr. or Principal Designer on at least one (1) mid to large size project ($500 Million +).

  • Able to travel. Typically for 1-3 week durations to attend meetings/inspections

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Experience at site during the construction, commissioning, and initial start-up phases of a project is preferred

  • Experience acquired with domestic and/or international electrical, instrumentation, and control system design, codes and standards including ISA,NEC, is preferred
