Job Overview:

Supervise, lead and mentor the structural engineering team required for McDermott’s installation scope. Provide support for marine engineering including lay analysis of flexible product and moorings.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Promote McDermott and project HSE and Quality policies.

  • Liaise with project team Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Engineering representatives.

  • Team leader for structural engineering required for McDermott installation scope on the Ichthys project. Supervise engineering design calculations and analysis of structural and marine items in accordance with Australian and International codes and standards, and project requirements.

  • Lead and perform concept and detailed design of installation aids for offshore operations.

  • Lead and perform concept and detailed design of grillage and seafastening.

  • Lead and perform vessel and barge structural integrity checks on basis of project requirements.

  • Attend regular internal meetings and external / third party meetings as required.

  • Review and promote design improvements of installation aids, grillage and seafastening, in close liaison with Operations and Field Engineers, to allow optimization of methods and technical details of the work scope.

  • Ensure TQA of all engineering deliverables is carried out in accordance with McDermott QA policies and procedures and that relevant, sufficiently qualified personnel are appointed to conduct the TQA.

  • Produce detailed CTR’s for estimation of manhours and resources required to execute assigned workscopes and any changes arising in due course of the project.

  • Ensure that the amount of resources required to perform the work are identified and communicated to the Subsea Construction Manager.

  • Provide technical support during fabrication, mobilisation and installation activities.

  • Participate in installation Constructabilities, HAZID’s and Risk Assessments including close-out of action items.

  • Provide support for naval architecture and marine engineering on the project including orcaflex analysis for flexible, umbilical and mooring installation as required.

  • Other assigned tasks.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 8 Years Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • Familiarity with structural and/or mechanical engineering and equipment used in the O&G industry offshore, e.g. vessel codes, standards and specifications.

  • English speaking and writing.

  • SACS, Solidworks structural engineering software or equivalent

  • OrcaFlex / Offpipe engineering software or equivalent.

  • Offshore job experience.

  • Experience with DNV and ASME subsea flowline design codes.
